Who Can Switch Gas
Most residents of Pennsylvania have the power to choose their natural gas supplier; however, please note that competitive offers may not be available in all areas.
What You Are Actually Switching
When you switch natural gas suppliers, you are changing the company that supplies the actual gas to your local gas lines; you are not switching to different physical gas lines.
The gas lines that run down your street and into your home are still owned and operated by your local natural gas distribution company (NGDC). The rates for that distribution service are regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PA PUC), but many PA consumers can choose the company that provides the gas supply to their local NGDC’s lines.
Your choice can be based on the lowest price, services and/or incentives. Competitive offers from natural gas suppliers do not exist in all areas of Pennsylvania.
Regardless of whether you choose a new natural gas supplier, your NGDC will continue to provide your distribution service, make repairs to its delivery system and respond to emergencies.
Why Switch to Natural Gas
The power to switch natural gas suppliers gives you greater control over your home or business’s energy bill. For example, if you can get a lower price from a competing supplier, you can switch over to its plan. Competitive offers may not be available in all areas.
It’s easy, safe and continual.

Suppliers refers to the company that sells you your natural gas. Suppliers provide natural gas to customers through existing pipes of natural gas distribution companies. A supplier's unit price includes, but is not limited to, costs associated with the production and transmission of the natural gas.
Distribution refers to the Natural Gas Distribution Company (NGDC) delivering the natural gas to the customer. Through a network of underground pipelines, natural gas from wells is consolidated within the interstate transportation system and then delivered to the local NGDC, which distributes the gas to customers.
